Trent was admited to Comer’s Childrens Hospital yesterday. After his radiation treatment, Trent ate breakfast in the food court and then became very sick. I took him to the Special Procedure Area immediately – due to him being very unresponsive after being sick in the restroom. They did some blood tests and gave Trent an EEG – they think he may have had a seizure (the doctors want to observe him for further information. Two CT scans were performed and they were both OK – they wanted to check to see if the tumor had swelled or if there was a build-up of fluid.
Late last night, we found out that Trent had been infected with a Gram Negative Bacteria (they believe it could be from accessing his central line). We do not know which bacteria it is yet – we should know by this evening (it is still growing in the lab). Trent is currently being treated with antibiotics.
