Trenton’s Make-A-Wish Trip!!!

by Administrator on February 2, 2006

Monday – Trenton’s trip started out with a limo ride to Midway Airport from 2nd Nature Limousines!! Trenton was so happy to get going!! All of us (Trenton, Ariana, Mom, Dad, and Grandma Richards) piled into the limo and it was so cool for the kids – so many buttons and things to touch!! Trenton was feeling tired (we had to increase his steroids to 4mg) but he was excited to be going to Disney!! [thumb:513:l]At the airport, Trenton was so tired before we boarded the plane – he even fell asleep while the pilot was talking to him – but we were moved up to business class, which gave Trenton alot of room to sleep during the flight. The pilot introduced Trenton over the intercom before take off and upon our arrival in Orlando, Trenton was asked to join the pilot in the cockpit!!! Trenton was alert and ready to get in there – he pushed some buttons that made the plane make noise and moved the yoke around….I honestly had not seen him smile so much in the last 2 weeks….he was in heaven!!! Thank you so much to the crew of TransAir Flight #837 – they made a dream come true for Trenton!!! Pictures of this special time are still to come…..Members from the Florida Make-A-Wish team greeted us and helped us with our baggage to the rental cars. They gave us perfect directions and we were off to the Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort. Let me tell you, this resort is so BEAUTIFUL!! The decor of the lobby and room was perfect – the view of the savannah from our balcony was breathtaking!!! We could see many animals including zebra, giraffe, and wildebeest.

Tuesday – We met Grandma and Grandpa Richards at the Boma restaurant for breakfast and then we were off to Sea World. [thumb:511:l]Trenton was given the opportunity to feed the dolphins…this was wonderful because the dolphins were so close…he could pet them and feed them…even talk to them!!! Sea World also has a stingray cove where we could touch and feel the stingrays as they swim by!! [thumb:522:l] Trent and Ariana stopped at the trampolines for a jump or two….[thumb:531:c] For dinner, we attended the “Dine with Shamu” buffet. It was a good meal and Trenton felt better after he ate. Trenton was very tired on this day – I believe his body was adjusting to the 4mg of steroids.[thumb:535:r] Thanks to Sea World for fulfilling another wish for Trenton!!

[thumb:558:l]Wednesday – MGM Studios was on the agenda for today….Trenton was ready to go on the Star Tours ride (Star Wars)!!! I think we went on it about 4 times and each time he spent a while in the shop looking for a toy…we now have plenty of Star Wars figurines and ships!! We then headed over to see the Power Rangers – and Trenton was so ready that he hopped out of his wheelchair before any of us could help him!! [thumb:565:l] He met ALL of them and got a picture with each one!! Time to eat!! And where else but PIZZA PLANET!!! [thumb:583:c] This is a pizza joint from the movie Toy Story and it is also an arcade – Trenton LOVES arcade games!!! Trenton wanted to see the Indiana Jones Stunt Show next – which was AWESOME!!! The MGM parade was GREAT, too!! Trenton saw many characters and waved his little heart out!! He was tired today – but better than Tuesday – he hung in there and we left AFTER we rode Star Tours one more time!!![thumb:559:l] Ariana spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa Richards (by Tampa) and spent Thursday with them so that Clint and I could spend time with Trenton.

Thursday – We could tell that Trenton really needed a day of rest before heading to Universal Studios on Friday. Clint, Trenton, and I slept in and then hit The Mara for breakfast. Trenton LOVED their Mickey Mouse Waffles – couldn’t get enough of them!!! [thumb:624:l]After eating we asked Trenton what he wanted to do today (we were suppose to go to Magic Kingdom). He decided that he wanted to ride Star Tours again, so we went back to MGM Studios!! We rode Star Tours another 4 times – and of course, he picked out more Star Wars stuff – he LOVED shopping – and we LOVED watching him shop!!! After eating at Pizza Planet and playing plenty of arcade games, we left the park and headed back to the room for an early bedtime. He wanted to eat – thank goodness for room service – and thank goodness for vanilla ice cream!!![thumb:625:l]

[thumb:631:l][thumb:632:l] Friday – We were so glad that we decided to rest on Thursday – Trenton was wide eyed and ready to go today!! First things first – Mickey Waffles – then off to Universal we went!!! He met so many characters here – he smiled so much and laughed alot on this day!!! We rode the Jimmy Neutron ride[thumb:637:r], the Shrek ride, and ate cheese pizza for lunch. Then it was off to the Islands of Adventure for the Spiderman ride (we rode this at least 5 times) and Dr. Seuss Land!!! I believe this was Trenton’s BEST day – and we all enjoyed seeing him smiling, laughing, and having so much fun!!!

[thumb:641:l]Saturday – Our trip back home was OK…Trenton was tired and wanted to get home. I knew he was not feeling good – his body was starting to change due to the steroids….poochy belly and fuller cheeks. More for ME to kiss, but HE was uncomfortable and frustrated. [thumb:643:r] He did fall asleep on the flight home (again the airline moved us up to business class-YEAH!!). Upon arrival at Midway, the limo was ready for us and off to home we went. I think it took 3 days to get the laundry done….we all just wanted to relax…and so we did. Trenton took many naps and started to feel somewhat better. He is not the same though – I can see that he is frustrated with the changes, and he is reacting like a 5 year old would – with attitude. I can handle the attitude – I know he loves me – and the steroids are talking – not him.

Clint and I would like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Indiana and Florida for making this trip so magical and special!!! Krista and Ruthie – you both are so wonderful – may GOD bless you and your families!!!

Gingerbread School teachers and parents of Trenton’s school friends (especially my very good friend Amy Fishl) – THANK YOU so much for your support and prayers!!!

We are THANKFUL to GOD for giving us this precious time with Trenton!!!
