Busy and Fun Times…
[thumb:720:l][thumb:721:l]Well, it has been a busy week here at the Anderson household. We started out our week with a visit to University of Chicago to see Dr. Rubin/Nurse Kelly and Dr. Greenwald. Kelly was saying that we should wait a couple more weeks for the MRI, we are going to call tomorrow to see when the next MRI should be scheduled. We have to give the Hydrazine Sulfate a chance to work according to Dr. Gold and Dr. Rubin. Dr. Greenwald said that Trent’s eyes have almost perfect vision even though they are crossing in from the tumor growth. We are trying to remain optimistic that something is going to slow the growth even stop it. It appears that he is not rapidly progressing into disability, but compared to the beginning of the year he has steadily gotten worse in movement and speech.
[thumb:719:l]Next part of our week came with a visit from Melanie and Holly, Trent’s Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist. They will be coming once a week to the house to give Trent some therapy and us some pointers on how to keep him moving and limber. It appears to me that he is getting some atrophy in his legs from his lack of movement and his left arm and leg are still moving but very slowly and the range of motion is severely decreased. Mel and Holly will also be working on his range of motion as well as keeping his muscles stretched.
[thumb:728:l][thumb:727:l]Here was the highlight of the week! Thursday, we received a visit from Jared Tomich a Retired NFL Football player who played for Nebraska in college and went on to play for the Packers, Saints, and I believe the Kansas City Chiefs where he retired from. Jared now spends a lot of his time visiting pediatric cancer patients in NW Indiana. He has started an organization to help these kids (Halo of Hope), by lobbying to get Riley’s Childrens Hospital to build a Sister location right here in NW Indiana among many other things. [thumb:731:r]Needless to say, we are all for it, and have offered all the support we can to help them out. I have added his link in our favorites section and although the site is in its infancy, keep an eye on it every now and then. I bet it is going to come to life real soon. I can not tell everyone enough how nice Jared was while he was with us for that short hour. He brought some gifts for Trent a signed football and jersey and Ariana received some art supplies. She drew this picture while we were visiting. [thumb:716:c:s=1:l=p] She has the artist in her for sure. Jared struck me as a bit of an old friend. Fantastic guy, what else can we say?
[thumb:725:l]Coming into the weekend, we had a visit from Donna’s Cousin and family. We had some good laughs and we spent time with Theresa going over a catalog of aids for disabled people. We got a lot a great ideas from her that we will put into motion soon. Thanks for all your fellowship and love.[newline]
